Hey all, just thinking about building a large shed/cabin ( 7mx 3.5m) out of sleepers. i have an 8ft back wall to work of so its just the sides an front to do. i am wondering about joining the corners shall they be mortice an tennor joints. i have a chain saw so its not an issue with cutting these things. if i do mortice joints shall i alternate the cut timbers will this make it stronger, and. Measure out 10*8 and skim off the turf and dig down a inch or so and level the soil so it's flat over the complete working area (using a spirit level), fit some breathable sheet then the slabs on top of that, then put the shed onto of the slabs.. Hi guys, just sharing my railway sleeper project. i needed a garden shed but decided rather than the usual eyesore colorbond tin boxes, i'd build something with a bit of character.. Sleepers are 8ft 6in long although you can get longer ones which are very heavy. therefore you can only easily use them if the bearers under the shed floor run in the 10ft direction so they go across the sleepers. i would prabably use 5 sleepers but you might get away with only 4..
