Taking off a shed roof during my last reno project.. My garden shed, as i pulled it down. the roof off my garden shed,. Now you can start taking the big pieces apart. you probably will not be able to take the roof off as a unit because it will be nailed on in many places and chances are the nails holding the trusses on will be under the roof decking. so you will probably have to remove the roof decking to get to the trusses..
Start by removing the roof sections (you will probably have to rip the felt covering) take care as you might have to bar these sections upwards from nside, a helper is a good idea at this stage, with the roof off seperate the wall sections individually, again a helper in useful to support the last two sections from falling over.. Take off the roof decking. use a cat's paw and hammer to pry out enough nails to loosen a sheet enough for you to lift it off, then de-nail the rest of the sheet on the ground. stack the sheets. Strip the roof down and use either a screwdriver or crowbar to take off any fasteners or loose screws. once you have stripped the roof down to the bare wood, remove any remaining nails which are holding the roof to the trusses or walls. be careful the walls of the shed dont immediately fall down when taking the roof off..
