How to build a shed base. some of our customers have used other construction methods and materials like wooden sleepers and concrete fence posts. whichever base you decide to build it is important that the floor has enough support the entire length of the building and this support has to be level and flat.. The advantage of poured concrete is that it's easy to get a near perfect level which won't settle over time. you can acheive this with sleepers, slabs, concrete posts etc. if they are laid on well compacted earth, its just less reliable & more fiddly to do; especially for a larger shed.. I'm building a backyard storage shed that will be supported by two 4x6x16' pressure treated rails laying on concrete piers. the 6" side will be flat against the pier. at the building supply store i have seen metal 6x6 post bases that seem to be used for attaching a post to concrete:.
